  Our Teachers    

Michelle has been teaching vocal, piano and music theory since 2001.  She is classically trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music and has received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Vocal Performance at York University.

 

She also directs and accompanies several choral groups, serves in church music ministry, sings for private events and public concerts, adjudicated singing contests, and has been involved in several music productions in Toronto.

 

Michelle’s musical experience includes classical, jazz, gospel, r&b, Cuban, and Brazilian music.

Jay Jones

In his childhood, Jay had the good fortune to have acquired pioneering Toronto Jazz guitarist Hank Monis as his private teacher. His apprenticeship under Hank continued for the next 16 years.  While still in his teens Jay performed extensively in many bands in and around the Toronto area. 

 

For over 30 years Jay has been nurturing aspiring guitarists of all ages and passing along the same fundamentals that he received from his teacher.

Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, Dobro, Ukulele, 4 & 5 String Banjo.

Ray Hickey Jr

Ray studied classical music at the Royal Conservatory and private tutelage with University of Toronto guitar department head Eli Kassner.

 

Later Ray went to the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, California where his teacher was Frank Gambale (Chic Corea's Electric Band). Ray also attended workshops in West Virginia, California and England with legendary British Rock guitarist Robert Fripp (King Krimson).

 

Ray has toured throughout Canada, U.S.A., Central America, England, Ireland, China and Japan. He has written three guitar books and released a solo CD entitled Alizarin Sky.
